Anyone who needed reminding why Cassie Siataga remains one of the most potent batters in Canterbury women's softball need only have ambled by Mizuno Ballpark on Saturday.
The former White Sox shortstop - who could still put her hand up for the world championships team if she has a good NFC series next month - belted a three-run home run in Sydenham Kereru's 6-1 win over Kaiapoi.
Just for good measure, she went three from four at the plate in a narrow 4-3 ss to the PCU Angels in the second leg of the doubleheader.
The Canterbury rugby union representative - with five hits from nine trips to the dish.
SK 6 KAIAPOI 1
Siataga started her hitting spree with a first inning double against Kaiapoi and backed up with her three-run blast through right-centrefield in the fourth frame, also scoring Robyn Hall and Danielle Bolton.
SK had a lock on the game from that point with second base Cassandra Andrews and outfielder Cheyanne Whyte also picking up two hits.
Pitcher Lauren Sutherland scored Kaiapoi's only run after an errored infield single and Christina Paul continued her sharp season form with two hits.
But they were the only three hits conceded by SK pitcher Krystal Werahiko in an encouraging performance on the mound.
PCU 4 SK 3
Pitcher Paige Crawford made her mark with the ball and the bat as the Angels resumed their excellent premiership return.
She hit a triple and racked up 10 strikeouts in a fine all-round performance.
SK will probably be asking themselve how they lost the game, however, after outbatting PCU eight hits to four.
Siataga struck a double and two singles and collected her fourth RBI of the day.
Hall and Werahiko scored SK’s other runs.
Caitlin Davidson opened the Angels' account on catcher Allyne Clark's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the second.
Crawford, who went two from four, hit her three-bagger in the third and scampered home on an error and Eve Mickell scored on a wild pitch in the fourth.
The Angels fielded a mother-and-daughter midle infield - and they combined for the decisive run.
Mum Carly Ratu doubled to left-centrefield and scored on daughter Kaiyah's infield single.
Crawford may have won the strikeout battle, but Krystal Werahiko put in a great effort too in throwing back to back games. She took six strikeouts for four hits and three walks.
MEN'S ACTION
The old adage that you can't beat experience certainly proved true in the Albion Anteaters' 7-0 men's premiership win over the Halswell Hornets.
Albion stalwarts Matt Holmes and Ant Stuart showed the way to their younger teammates with a couple of telling blows.
Holmes slugged a two-run home run over rightfield with Stuart on base in the fourth inning.
Stuart also collected two RBIs, batting in Jamie Holmes and Kyle Beaudoin, who had had back-to-back hits, in the fifth frame.
Not to be outdone, some of Albion's promising youngsters stepped up with the stick too.
Quinn Wickens singled to leftfield and Cory Durham slammed a two-bagger.
Both scored on catcher Liam Hughes' rightfield single.
Pitcher Kevin Papuni was Albion's other standout. He hurled 12 strikeouts and yielded just two safe hits - both from the bat of Halswell's Marty Warren.
The Anteaters-Hornets clash was the only men's premiership game.
The ELE Papanui Tigers and PCU Devils are attending the Poneke Kilbirne Classic, which ends in Wellington on Monday.
